Police recover five cars, stereos from robbery gang

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has recovered six stolen cars and 65 car stereos from a robbery gang in Abuja.

The police also recovered three master keys from suspects whose names were given as Ikhanala Tiome and Ahmed Yusuf.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, said detectives arrested Tiome following a complaint on September 3, by one Eche Philip, whose car was stolen in Bwari, a satellite town in the FCT.

The CP explained that in the course of investigation, detectives recovered the stolen Honda from Tiome’s hideout, adding that a police patrol team later arrested the second suspect, Yusuf, who he described as a notorious car thief.

According to him, a Honda and Toyota salon cars were recovered from Yusuf, and during interrogation, he identified one Ugochukwu Anikpee as the receiver of the stolen items.

Anikpee was arrested with two stolen vehicles, 65 car stereos and amplifiers.

Inalegwu further stated that Okon David and Mikel David, who specialised in stealing money from bank customers’ vehicles after trailing them from the bank, were arrested in the act.

He said, “The sum of N500, 000 already stolen from a victim’s car, was recovered from them. Also recovered from them was a Toyota Corolla with registration number, RSH 741 MW, suspected to have been stolen.

“All the suspects in these cases will appear in court upon completion of investigation.”
